Green-Skills and Women Empowerment

Women's involvement in green-skills development is pivotal for achieving sustainable development and addressing environmental challenges (European Commission, 2019). Identifying the specific requirements and challenges faced by women in this domain is crucial. The European Commission's "Skills for Green Jobs - European Synthesis Report" underscores the importance of conducting comprehensive research to identify the distinct needs of women concerning green-skills development. This can be achieved through a multi-faceted approach, including interviews, surveys, and focus groups. By involving women directly in the needs assessment process, valuable insights can be gathered to tailor green-skills training programs effectively.

Integrating women into the green economy can enhance their economic opportunities and job prospects, fostering gender equality and social inclusion (ILO, 2013). To accurately estimate the real needs of women in green-skills development, it is essential to conduct in-depth interviews and self-assessment surveys. By asking women about their existing knowledge, interests, and challenges related to environmental issues, a better understanding of their specific educational needs can be gained. Practical demonstrations and interactive group activities can provide valuable insights into the learning preferences and receptiveness of women towards green-skills training.

The United Nations' "Transforming our world: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" highlights the need to empower women through education and training to promote sustainable practices (United Nations, 2015). The 2030 Agenda emphasizes the importance of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. To estimate the real needs of women in green-skills development, it is crucial to involve them directly in the training needs assessment process. Furthermore, conducting a bibliographical research, as recommended by the European Commission, will help draw parallels, detect covered or not-covered themes, and compare the findings with realities from different parts of the world. This approach ensures a comprehensive understanding of the educational needs of women and helps tailor green-skills training programs to effectively meet those needs.

Empowering women through green-skills training not only mitigates environmental degradation but also addresses gender-based health disparities (World Health Organization, 2018). By involving women directly in the needs assessment process and drawing upon existing research, we can estimate their real needs accurately. This comprehensive approach ensures that green-skills training programs are designed to be inclusive, effective, and impactful, ultimately contributing to the sustainable development and empowerment of women.
